Carrot is a member of the apiaceae family, a largely aromatic family that includes fennel, cilantro, dill and cumin. They originated in Asia and have been cultivated for thousands of years. The original carrots were purple, and we grow some purple varieties even today, though the bulk of our crop is the more familiar orange carrot. We endeavor to have carrots available all season long, beginning in early July.
Storage: Carrots are best stored in plastic in the fridge. For best storage, remove the greens immediately (these make a lovely pesto).
